Lazarus

Subject

"There was a rich man who was dressed in
purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every
day. At his gate was laid a beggar named
Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat
what fell from the rich man's table. Even the
dogs came and licked his sores." (Luke 16:19-
21)

Description

Red field. Heavy black outlines. Piece can be
divided in two along a shallow S-curve which
runs horizontally down from the left through the
center. Below the line to the very left, a long
white male figure in a gold & black striped robe
reclines, head back against the blue trunk of a
tall narrow tree. He sits on a small hill of 5
gold/green triangles in a black hump. A small
black dog with three white spots stands in front
of the man licking his right knee. His leg is
covered with black spots along the shin. Above
the line is the outline of part of a building with
three large windows and a low black roof. Three
plant shapes lie along the wall. Two are tall and
narrow rising up between the windows. There
are four figures in the windows, all have facial
features represented by black T-shapes. Three
smaller figures, one in each window standing
behind large white objects with black dots on
them. The fourth figure leans out of the center
window.
